Day 4 | Working on vs Working In

Scripture: Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might (Ecclesiastes 9:10, NIV)

Reflection: In the workplace, it's crucial to distinguish between working on and working in. Working on involves planning, strategizing, and setting goals, while working in involves executing tasks with skill and efficiency in the environment in which they are taking place. Both aspects are essential, and it's vital to strike a balance between the two.

It's important to strike a balance between working on and working in. If you only focus on executing tasks without seeing the big picture and being sensitive to what's going on organizationally, you might find yourself working on tasks that don't align with your organization's goals. On the other hand, if you only focus on reading the environment without executing tasks, you'll miss opportunities to achieve your goals and fail to capitalize on your team's strengths.

Prayer: Dear God, I approach my work, I'm asking for your guidance to strike a balance between working on and working in. May I approach my tasks with diligence, skill, and excellence while being mindful of the environment in which they are taking place. Give me wisdom and discernment as I navigate my work, and help me to glorify you in all that I do. Amen.

Get into Action: Evaluate your approach to working on and working in in the workplace. Consider ways to adjust your approach to achieve a better balance between working on and working in. Write down a plan of action to implement this balance and commit to following through on it. Remember, your work can be a way to serve others and glorify God.
