What judgments or rules have you constructed for others that you're now struggling to follow yourself? One of mine has to do with the shower.

I installed a device that keeps the water hot in the pipes. Typically, the water will get hot in about seven seconds. Consequently, I made a rule for my family to try to get into the shower in under 10 seconds so water is not wasted. (Don't judge me!)

Two things:

1) No one does it.

2) I'm stressing myself out to be in the water in under 10 seconds — whether it's convenient or not. And why? Because of the rule I made for them.

What pronouncements —rules, judgments, or otherwise — have you made for others that you now struggle to live by yourself (see Matthew 7:2)
