Is your spouse not listening to you or his he/she not hearing you?

Get the distinction.

It's unlikely that your spouse is not listening to you. I can imagine that he/she rehearses your words in his/her mind long after you've said them.

What's more probable is that your spouse doesn't hear you. Your spouse (and mine) stops hearing when something has been repeated ad nauseam, feelings have been hurt, trust is damaged, a double-standard is in play, and/or intimacy and love are missing.

Take the case that if your spouse is not hearing you, there's an action you can take to get what you're saying heard (and it's not saying, "Hey, listen to me!).
