Thoughts on Boeing, Quality, and Leadership
Jan 25, 2024 11:03 pm
Hi :
As a frequent flyer, and somebody who believes in putting safety and quality first, I've been closely following (from afar) the situation with Boeing.
I'm concerned that Boeing executives are blaming the employees instead of looking in the mirror to examine culture and leadership. I'm skeptical that "more inspections" is a truly effective solution. I'm even more skeptical that a "quality stand down" day where "the people who touch the plane" are forced to go through quality classes.
I've blogged about it in these posts:

Review: Captures profound insights about humanity and mistakes that will raise your game as a leader
"We all make mistakes.
Mark Graban's book builds off his excellent podcast - bringing humanity into how to improve, through one of the most human things there is - making a mistake. Through anecdotes, thought leaders and research, Mark inspires readers to acknowledge our mistakes, help others that have made mistakes, and at the moment where most people feel shame - turn it around and make it a learning opportunity.
There is something deeper about this book as well, something profound. Experienced leaders, experts, have been very excited by this book. It unlocks in them a way of looking at mistakes, that we are all conditioned to avoid even the mention of; that unlocking is liberating in a deeply personal way.I can't recommend the book enough - go get one today!
