Join Me for a Book Cover Reveal Event – “The Mistakes That Make Us”
Next week, Tuesday May 2nd, I'll be hosting a live event to reveal the full cover of my upcoming book The Mistakes That Make Us: Cultivating a Culture of Learning and Innovation.
Register Now:
You can register to view it two ways:
The recording will be available if you can't join us at 2:30 pm ET that day.
The Content and Topics for the Event:
To date, I've teased the top part of the front cover:
In the live event, host Elisabeth Swan (author of the new book Picture Yourself a Leader) and I will discuss the collaborative and iterative process that I went through with the cover designer.
The art was done by somebody who is nearly a life-long friend of mine, who works as a professional artist and designer. He volunteered to help me by doing his first-ever book design (his normal work involves projects far more important than this!).
I'll show the artist's original concept sketches and how our selected cover went through many rounds of iteration and improvement.
Elisabeth and I will talk about iteration as authors and publishers and I'm sure we will talk more broadly about the power of iteration in the workplace, for continuous improvement or innovation. We'll also take live questions from the audience…
Win a Free Signed Copy!
Register for the event, and you'll be entered to win a free signed copy of the book when it's available (expected release in early June).
Hope to see you on May 2nd.
My Upcoming Book — Editing is Done!
Last month, I completed the manuscript for my next book:
The Mistakes That Make Us: Cultivating a Culture of Learning and Innovation
The additional copy editing cycle is complete, so now the book goes into the page design process for the paperback and eBook versions.
I was thrilled to get this endorsement from Timothy R. Clark:
”Making mistakes is not a choice. Learning from them is. Whether we admit it or not, mistakes are the raw material of potential learning and the means by which we progress and move forward. Mark Graban's The Mistakes That Make Us is a brilliant treatment of this topic that helps us frame mistakes properly, detach them from fear, and see them as expectations, not exceptions. This book's ultimate contribution is helping us realize that creating a culture of productive mistake-making accelerates learning, confidence, and success.”
