cons and projects

Hey awesome,
It's June! Which means a couple of things: it's my birthday month, and it's Liberty Con time!
You've likely heard me rave about Liberty Con before - it's run by Brandy and her incredible team, chock full of awesome folks, and one of my favorite places to be. Even if I do melt in southern summer these days...details. Will I see you there??? If so, my schedule is below (and doesn't include the couple of times I shall haunt author's alley). If not, what fun plans do you have coming up?
In other news, I thought this would be a semi-quiet year for me for releases but that was a LIE. Accidental lie, but still. In addition to Blood of Her Father (which came out in January), I've got two anthologies (Dancing with Destruction in July and Challenges in November), A Plague of Magic (in September) and three projects that, I guess we wouldn't say are SURPRISES, but weren't originally concretely on my calendar.
First up, potentially my last 4HU book - Shades of the Past, which Chris Kennedy and I recently finished up. It kicks off the Big Final Main Storyline: Exodus. Look at this cover!!!
(and the full art if you wanna see what they're firing at)
Chris and I brought back Colby's Killers, plus you'll get three of the Four Horsemen and a really Big Bad. I've summed it up as either 'the horrors persist, but so do I' and/or 'Tentacles. Why is it always tentacles?' so, you know. Fun for readers, if not characters, and will be out this July 25th!
Second up, a project I worked on years ago is finalized and coming out from Three Ravens in just a few weeks (June 27th)! Not to Yield is an anthology where every chapter pushes the overall storyline forward - the Odyssean travels of a starship crew lost to time and space and aliens...this was so much fun and I'm so excited it'll be out in the world.
Third up - a Car Wars novel I wrote with the fabulous Charli Cox! Details after Liberty Con (where it will be formally announced), and I hope to have a cool Car-Wars-ian cover to share with you soon too!
So. Whew. A bigger year than I expected. And all my friends are putting out books - there's just so much great reading, y'all! For instance, you may remember this, now one of my favorite books of all time:
Yeah. That's Baen's second feral fantasy book for the summer, Melissa Olthoff's first Baen novel, and the sort of story that will make you laugh, cry, potentially curse at all caps at the author (maybe that's just me, but IT WAS DESERVED OK), and overall be so, so, SO glad you read it. Go hang out with Harpy and Felix in Rise from Ruin and tell me what you think (i.e., how much you love them).
CKP also has the badass fantasy going on this summer, because here's H.Y. Gregor's book four of the Vechnoye Saga (completed storyline for the win!):
Koschei's Madness is a helluva ending and exactly what urban fantasy is meant to be.
I hope you pick up one (or all, I mean, why choose!) and let me know what you think. What else should I have on my (mountainous) TBR? I mean, I have to pack, not read, buttttttt...
Til next time,
Marisa
