i went outside

Hey awesome,

It's spring, and I definitely just packed a full season's worth of spring adventures into a week and a half. Which means I both very much want a nap and also need to once more crawl into my writing cave.

But before I re-become a writing goblin, here is proof that I Went Outside:

Some friends were visiting, and so we did several day trips and one lovely several-day trip to various places in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine. Spring is such a gorgeous time to be out and about in New England - how about where you are? Any favorite adventures you would recommend, either there or here?

I'm officially back to work today, on both a plethora of fun short stories and also on the first book on the final arc of the main Four Horsemen storyline (WHEW). That's right, Chris Kennedy and I are deep in the guts of Shades of the Past, which officially kicks off the conclusion to the big storyline begun many books and years ago.

Never fear, the 4HU will continue - this storyline ensures the amazing fans of this fantastic universe get closure on the Big Things introduced in the mainline books. And Chris is currently kicking my butt on word count, so I'll get back to work in a minute here.

In the meantime though...are you feral for fantasy?

...do you want to be? Because some of my author friends have joined (feral) forces on a giveaway, in which you could win six new fantasy books and a kindle simply by sharing your opinion on the best opening chapter(s) out there over on Reddit.

You can see the details here, and it's a chance to pick up Magelight by Kacey Ezell (available now everywhere books are sold!), Blood Knight: Vampire Slayer by Edie Skye (available now, and the finale to the series is brand newly out!), Rise from Ruin by Melissa Olthoff (available 6/3/2025, anywhere books are sold!), Words of Power by Shami Stovall (available 6/24/2025), My Luck by Mel Todd (available now, and the series is complete!), AND A Plague of Magic by me (eARC available now, book available 9/2/2025, anywhere books are sold). Plus a kindle to read all that and more - I mean, a win is a win.

There is so much great reading these days - any other fantasy coming out this summer that should be on my radar? Because I am, indeed, feral for fantasy. In fact, I've just started the absolutely delightful Wen Spencer's Black Wolves of Boston (book 1, in preparation for her book 2 that's also out this September 2!).

Speaking of, gotta go write so then I can curl up and read...that's how I keep my writer-goblinning productive. Catch you on the flip side.

Til next time,

Marisa
