Is this too much for the Ren Faire?🤔

One thing you need to know about me and my husband is that we're homebodies. We have been forever. There's nothing better than staying at home on the couch and not doing anything.
That is, until it became our only option.
Perhaps you recall, but there was a global pandemic that is actually still going on, and we all stayed home for a very long time and did nothing. As a couple, that should've been our time to shine. Only, for whatever reason, I don't like to stay home if it's the only option. If everyone and their brother is sitting at home on the couch, then it's just not as fun.
You've heard of FOMO, or the fear of missing out. Well, I have JOMO, the joy of missing out. I need to miss out to enjoy staying home. But I'm not missing out if everyone else is also at home.
Anyway, all this is to say that my husband and I have lost our minds and we've decided we're the type of couple that leaves our home on occasion, which is why we decided we'll be going to the Oklahoma City Renaissance and Scottish Festival in November.
Chris has been researching his clan tartan, and he's really excited to wear a kilt and compete in the Highland Games someday. Honestly, with his red hair and red beard, he could probably be an extra in an episode of Outlander, if the show thought his skate shoes and tattoos were historically accurate.
As for me, however, I will wear a nonsense costume, by which I mean I will be wearing something that is in no way historically accurate. Think magical boho witch with potions and botanical elements and also faux brass skeleton keys because why not? Oh, and a corset because you kind of have to.
I've been cobbling together the bits and pieces for the costume, repurposing skirts I've had for over a decade and watching tutorials on how to make a peasant blouse out of an old men's button-down shirt. I'm most excited for the potion vials, though this could tax what little craft skills I possess beyond their limits.
As I was finalizing the general idea and planning a trip to a thrift store to snag a set of J.C. Penney lace curtains your grandma used to have so I could turn them into a petticoat, I had a moment of doubt. Would my non-historical nonsense witch ensemble be too much for the ren faire?
I spent more time than I care to admit scouring the internet for photos of past OKC ren faires just to get a taste of what's going on. But according to the event's Facebook page, there's going to be a 7-foot tall Mother Nature at the event...so whatever I wear is probably fine.
I'll be sure to share some photos here, and I may even blog about the experience. I've been feeling the urge to blog more about my personal life, and I may make that happen in 2023.
(I know it's only October 1, but please know I'm already obsessively planning the first quarter of next year. More on that later...)
Until then, wish me luck as I order a corset. This is a whole new frontier for someone who lives in gym shorts and t-shirts.
