False spring is a jerk. 🌱

I'm a summer girl. I want to be outside in the heat, preferably on a patio with a Tecate with salt and lime in my hand. (In this scenario, I'm pretending to pay attention to my friends who are sitting with me, but really, my attention is on the chips and salsa.)
Oklahoma weather never truly makes sense, but this past week, it's just been cruel. We've had some warm spring weather, only for the week to end with a chilly rain.
False spring strikes again.
There's something about the spring that feels weird to me. I feel so inspired but stagnant. I want to do all the things but can't make myself do anything. It's like driving a car with your back tires in the mud. You're giving it all you've got, but it ain't moving.
That's how I've felt this past week. I have so many ideas and things I want to work on, but they just don't go.
Thank goodness for wiggle room!
I talked about this for Productivity & Planning Week. Wiggle room is the little space in my plans I give myself when I need it. I make sure that there isn't a ton of stuff to do (when I can make sure of this) so that I have some space for down time.
On Thursday morning, instead of pushing to get stuff done early in the day, I gave myself a slow morning where I drank coffee and finished reading a novel.
Then, I tackled the work I needed to do in the afternoon.
(You can still catch the awesome trainings in Productivity & Planning week right here.)
Not putting off until tomorrow what you can do today was probably virtuous at one point. But sometimes, you need to take a slow morning or just read a book or whatever. And if you have the privilege to take that time, you owe it to yourself to do it.
I know that for many of you, it's the last weekend of spring break, and you're probably trying to fit in a billion and one tasks and chores to catch up before next week starts.
But if you can take a little wiggle room time, do it. It's literally saving my sanity right now.
