Hi !

Hello everyone. I hope this newsletter finds everyone well. It’s freezing here in Nebraska right now, but not much snow, thankfully. They say you get used to the cold. THEY LIE. You don’t. At least I haven’t. This is my 7th or 8th year in Nebraska, and I still freeze every year. 

I’ll be going home for the first time in about a year-and-a-half this month. Weather permitting of course. I’m very excited about the trip and seeing my family. I’ll be gone just over a week. 

I play a writing game on a site called 4thewords. You defeat monsters by typing however many words before the timer runs out. There’s a main story quest which I’ve completed and sideline quests which is what I’m doing now. Anyway, I left the site for a while and went back for NaNoWriMo. After logging in, I realized the site still had my old writing. I’m talking like the very first version of book 1 before I made any changes. 

I started reading some of it. It was written in 3rd person past tense. Reading third person seems so weird to me now. I’ve gotten so used to writing in 1st person present. I remember when writing in 1st person seemed weird. 

Have you ever looked back on your old writing and thought to yourself, “Man this really sucks?” I’m so glad I listened to the advice I got back then and made book 1 better than it was.  

Due to circumstances out of my control, book two won’t be released until late spring 2023. I don’t have an exact date yet, but when I do, I’ll make sure to let y’all know.
