It’s Time to Drop the Mask and Start Healing 💫

Hi ,

I’ve been reflecting on a chapter of my life that, while painful, has shaped me into the person I am today. I want to share this part of my journey with you because I know how powerful it can be to finally let go of the mask we often wear.

During my first marriage, I experienced verbal and emotional abuse. I’ll never forget one particular day—my husband had said some really hurtful things, and despite feeling completely shattered inside, I still got myself and our 3-year-old ready for the day. I put on a brave face, smiled, and pretended everything was fine.

I walked out the door with a smile, and throughout the day, people complimented how great I looked. But inside, I felt like an imposter. I was shattered. When I got home, I stared into the mirror and saw what everyone else saw—a woman who seemed put-together. But beneath the surface, I saw the truth: a mom barely holding on, finally realizing I was an abused woman, desperately pretending that everything was okay.

That part of my story is a long one, and I’ll share more about it another time. But the takeaway for today? I became a master at masking my emotions—hiding my pain beneath a polished exterior.

Fast forward to today, I’ve learned how important it is to allow myself to feel, instead of suppressing my emotions. When we push through the uncomfortableness and allow ourselves to feel, we also begin to heal. It’s not easy, but it’s essential.

Here are 3 steps to help you start removing the mask and begin your healing:

  1. Acknowledge Your Emotions – Instead of pushing them away, take a moment to sit with what you’re feeling. Whether it’s fear, anxiety, or sadness, give yourself the space to feel.
  2. Validate Yourself – You don’t need anyone else’s permission to honor your feelings. Say to yourself, “It’s okay to feel this way.”
  3. Take One Healing Action – Whether it’s journaling, going for a walk, or simply taking a few deep breaths, choose something that helps you release the emotion rather than stuff it down.

I’m also excited to share some news—I’m bringing health coaching back into my coaching practice! A week ago, I started taking personalized vitamins, and they have made a world of difference in how I feel. If you’re curious, you can take your own free wellness assessment here. ✨

With love and gratitude,

Charity
