Reflect and Transform: This Week's Soulful Sunday Practice 🌟
Jul 14, 2024 9:05 am
Dear ,
I hope this message finds you well! This week in our Soulful Sunday journey, we’re focusing on reflecting on self-judgment and criticism and how to release them.
This past week has been a roller coaster of emotions. We moved back into our home after seven months due to a flood in November. Amidst this transition, I've experienced an amazing miracle, I won my appeal to get my child recognized for having autism (it took me 13 years to finally get this diagnosis for Oli)!!! 😭🙏🏻 While these events have been overwhelming, they are also incredibly significant.
Throughout it all, I've become more aware of my own self-criticism and judgment.
Here are some personal reflections from my journey of releasing self-judgment and criticism:
- Frequent Self-Criticism: I often found myself thinking, "You should have done this better."
- Realization: I noticed that being hard on myself was not helpful at all.
- Self-Judgment: There were moments when I criticized myself for not sticking to my workout plan and for eating too much sugar.
- Need for Compassion: I realized that if a dear friend of mine was going through the same exact things, I would not tell her she needed to do better with her workout or eat less sugar.
- Looking in the Mirror: When I looked in the mirror, I recognized that I was being too hard on myself, and it was not serving me.
- Self-Kindness: I understood that treating myself with the same kindness and compassion I would offer a loved one is crucial.
As Steve Maraboli wisely said, "You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway."
This week, let’s all be mindful of the judgment and criticism we direct towards ourselves and care for ourselves as we would a dear friend.
