Survivors Speak ~ Smile (If It Feels Good) ~ StavG partners with TFP

Jul 10, 2021 9:04 am

👋 Hey ,

Do you ever have things that just roll around in your brain until you finally realize there may not be a "right" answer?

Lately, I've been thinking about The Fiona Project and Help for Survivors, and racking my brain about how best to serve both communities with the least fuss and muss for all involved. In the end, I think this is one of those times you just have to choose something and move forward. So I have decided to combine updates from both organizations into a single email.

There is significant overlap between them anyway, and you get fewer emails. Who doesn't like that? Plus, you can see what's happening across the community in our other related efforts. Win-win. So...

Voilà! Below is our first combined Fiona Project/HelpforSurvivors newsletter. Enjoy! ❤️

Survivors Speak arts blog

This week's featured post is a music video submitted by CSA survivor, Mary Graziano. Mary wrote the poem for the song, and her good friends, George Robinson and Michal Madison, provided music, art and production for the video.

Thank you, Mary, for sharing your talents with us.

Smile...be nice (If it Feels Good) ~ HelpforSurvivors.org

Thank you to Evie Fleming, host of the "Are You Listening?" podcast, for this wonderful article about authenticity and personal truth.

How often have you felt like you had to put your feelings and truth aside to keep the peace or appease others? For many survivors, this is a common occurrence. Maybe it's time to rethink and reframe these habits.

Stav G partners with The Fiona Project

Stav G is a singer/songwriter who brings her own unique mix of Mediterranean and western influences to New York City using cutting edge Electro-Acoustic sound design and sometimes a super-cool gadget that lets her play her synth using hand gestures. (It's pretty awesome! I'm just sayin'.)

Stav came to The Fiona Project after seeing a young person exhibiting signs of abuse and realizing how much pain this young girl was in and the weight of silence that she carried.

Thank you, Stav, for paying attention and choosing to shine a light on CSA through your music platform. You are making a difference!
