Ever feel hungry… but you’re not sure why?

If you’re “hungry”... that doesn’t always mean it’s about food!

Understanding where it’s coming from helps you manage it, instead of just reacting to it.

Here are the 4 kinds of hunger… and what to do about it 👇

Type 1: Physical Hunger

Your body needs fuel, and it’s letting you know, like when your stomach is growling.

✅ Eat a balanced meal or snack with protein, fat, and fiber to satisfy and stabilize energy.

Type 2: Emotional Hunger

This can be triggered by feelings: stress, anxiety, loneliness, being tired, feeling bored, or even happiness… and not a need for fuel.

✅ Take a moment to check in: What are you feeling, and why are you feeling it? What can you do to address the emotion? Many times, a walk, a call with a friend, or a deep breath might feel better.

Type 3: Practical Hunger

When you know that you’re not going to be able to eat for a while … so you eat whether you’re hungry or not!

✅ Ask yourself: Am I actually hungry, or am I just on autopilot? (Also, always pack snacks!)

Type 4: Taste Hunger

Eating food because it tastes great… not because you’re hungry!

✅ A quick change of scenery, go outside, or do something that mentally stimulates you.

Sometimes it’s a mix…

You might be physically hungry and bored, or eating out of habit and stress!

The more aware you are, the easier it is to understand what’s going on…
