Small daily habits that make you feel like yourself again

Well hello there Mama,

What do you do when you unexpectedly find an extra 20 minutes in your day? I mean, that's like a miracle, right?!? I wonder if you try and cram eleventy billion chores into 20 minutes... or if you stop and ask yourself, what would I love to do right now?

It's easy to lose your sense of self when you're a Mum. After all, you have small humans depending on you for, well, basically EVERYTHING. So, its pretty common to set your own needs aside and focus your whole attention on your little loves.

If you do this for long enough, you might start forgetting who you truly are and become disconnected from your sense of self.

How can you find your way back? Well, start with small, daily practises that bring you back to self. Um, ok, like what then? Well, you can try:image

  • journaling your feelings before bed
  • taking 5 minutes when you first wake up to simply breathe and be
  • writing a list of five things you love to do and put it somewhere you'll see it every day
  • setting aside 5-10 minutes every day that is just for you - put it in your calendar so it actually happens!
  • playing your favourite music while you do chores and errands
  • texting that friend you've been meaning to get in touch with for the last three months!

Who we truly are is made up of many layers and parts. You just need to remind yourself that you do exist outside of being an amazing Mama!

If you haven't already, grab yourself a copy of my guide to self care for busy Mums. It has plenty of ideas and suggestions for self care you can do at home in as little as 5 minutes. You can get your copy by clicking here.
