You're Living Two Lives

You know what's making you exhausted?

It's not the work. It's not the hours. It's that you're living two lives—the real one and the performed one. Every moment you spend being someone else is energy stolen from who you actually are. And the performance, man, it requires constant maintenance. You're monitoring every word, every reaction, every expression. Making sure you're fitting in, making sure you're not too much or not too little. That shit drains you.

People pleasing is at the core of this. And people pleasing is not kindness. It's cowardice disguised as generosity. Each time you betray yourself to make others comfortable, your spirit wilts a little bit. You say yes to things you want to say no to, and that energy gets stored in your nervous system. It stays there. Like a demon feeding on you. And over time, that accumulated betrayal of yourself becomes the background noise of your entire life.

Here's the shift: when you stop performing, you're no longer holding on to what you want life to be. You're letting life show you what it's meant to be. You don't control everything in life, but you do have a direct ability to change where you stand. When you stop performing, you're able to move differently. To be guided. To flow. And with that new form of movement, the life force strengthens. You get stronger because you feel what you're meant to feel rather than reacting and suppressing.

I'm not saying drop every responsibility and just "be yourself" in some reckless way. I'm saying notice when you're performing. Notice the difference between that authentic flow and the calculated, logical, pre-planned presentation. Start to say no. Be honest. And you don't need to always articulate why. Sometimes no is the full answer. Or "not right now." It can be that simple. You don't owe anyone an explanation.

The real question is: can you be content with uncertainty? Because if you can do that, you will realize there's no need to perform. And when you're done performing and you are just moving freely with the life force, you have more joy. The time goes by faster. You're actually living instead of maintaining an image.
