You know those weeks when life throws you one curveball after another?

Work deadlines pile up, your kid gets sick, or you’re just not feeling it

It’s soooo easy to let healthy habits slide — and before you know it, a few days missed turn into weeks (or even months).

But what if I told you there’s a simple rule to stop that from happening?

Enter: The 2-Day Rule.

The idea is simple: Never miss more than two days in a row. Ever. No matter what.

It doesn’t mean you can’t take a break or skip a workout.

It’s about building in flexibility without losing consistency.

If you miss one day, that’s fine. If you miss two days, okay.

But on the third day? You get back to it, even if it’s just a tiny effort.

Why It Works:

  • It keeps your momentum going — It’s not about perfection; it’s about not letting the gap between actions get too wide.
  • It reduces pressure — Knowing you only need to act within two days makes the goal feel more achievable and removes the stress of "starting over."
  • It builds trust with yourself  Following the 2-Day Rule helps you prove to yourself that you can stay committed, even when things get tough.

Here’s how to use it:

  • If your goal is to workout regularly, and you miss two days, make sure you get some form of movement on the third day. Even if it’s a 10-minute walk or a quick stretch session.
  • If you’re trying to build a habit of meal prepping, and you fall off for a couple of days, prep one meal on the third day to get back on track.

I use the 2-Day Rule for my meditation practice and strength training. If I miss two days, I make sure to do a 15-minute session on the third, even if I’m busy.

The best part? It’s forgiving and flexible, but it keeps you anchored to your goals.

So, the next time life gets in the way (because it always does!), remember: just don’t miss three days in a row. It’s a simple rule that can make a huge difference.

Here’s to building habits that stick,
