Hey Dragons!
Last week, I had a panic attack. Honestly, although I hated having it, it was for a good reason. If that is even a thing?
I submitted my thesis for a final review for graduation for my MFA. Within the next two weeks, I will find out if I passed and will graduate. It was definitely nerve-wracking to submit it and hope they will pass me.
In the meantime, here is a rough draft version of a small section of Apothecary’s Price that I worked on last night. This isn’t the final version as I will be revising it and editing it, but I hope you all enjoy it.
The woman cleared her throat and sauntered up to the counter. She placed a long, thin dagger between the three of them and spun it absentmindedly. Her gaze never left Robynn’s.
“I guess if you really want to agree, you should know my name.” She stopped the dagger so the tip pointed to her. “Elona. The great Blue Mage that killed Elandril.” Her eyes flashed again. It had to be on purpose to give herself a flair with the name. “Also the greatest thief in the entire kingdom.”
The drow stiffened. “No! Absolutely not.” He snapped back to Robynn. “You can’t expect a thief to be your benefactor! Pay Dollagrim what you owe him today and be gone with her."
Robynn bit her bottom lip.
“I…”
She couldn’t pay Dollagrim and would lose the shop. Elona didn’t have anything that would hurt her, but she admitted to being a murderer either. To ally with a man who would control everything she owned and had left of her family or a woman who she barely knew and could kill her. The decision seemed easy enough for anyone who was business-minded. Robynn was far from that
“I am renegotiating my contract.” Robynn grabbed the dagger and turned it toward Elona. “All payments will go through my benefactor.”
