Hey !


So I've been practicing a lot of martial arts in lockdown and I did around 800 reps of various kicks and punches a couple of days ago and I thought to myself that this sort of level of repetition is going to bring out excellence given it's done enough over a long period of time.


In order to achieve mastery we need to dedicate time to practice.


So lets have a look in this weeks email on what it takes to master a skill

UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.

There may be a gap in you knowledge. If so then research in the right places. In a lot of cases we think we have a gap in our knowledge when we really don't. We can go into analysis paralysis which only fools us into thinking we need to know more before we make our move. A tell tail sign of analysis paralysis has to do with the patterns we follow on a regular basis. If analysing too much happens regularly for us that is most likely a sign of analysis paralysis.


TAKE AWAY- Analysis paralysis is a regular pattern for people who do it.


UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO CONSISTENTLY.

It's ok to nail it for on day. But that wont get results. You can nail it for a week and that won't get results. You can nail it for a month and you still might not get results. It's the accumulation of 2,3,4 months or even years that gets the job done. So the first step is nailing the process one day. Then nailing it the next day. Then keep doing it until the months and years mount.


TAKE AWAY- You cant climb a mountain in one step but it will get you closer to climbing it by taking one step.



UNDERSTAND HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW.

This becomes a game of fulfilling our potential. Nothing can be truly known without the doing. Bridging the gap can be as simple as creating better habits for yourself. Sometimes there can be a negative association to taking action. Sometimes it can mean getting bogged down in your own thoughts or it might even be a negative experience you've had when taking action in the past.The best way to think of it is taking action in some way, shape or form is better than taking no action at all. You can literally know heaps more than what you need to but unless it comes out to play then it's no good to you.



TAKE AWAY- We know more than what we need to. Now it's time to do more of what we already know.
