What’s on your algorithm today?

Happy Monday, !

You know how if you watch one cute cat video on social media, suddenly your whole feed turns into a cat circus?

Or if you save one recipe, you get 12 variations of it the next day?

That is the algorithm at work. You get fed more of what you pay attention to.

Your real life (and your brain!) works the same way.

You have your own internal algorithm… and it responds directly to your environment and what you pay attention to.

And all that stuff you pay attention to gets pushed to the top of your mental feed so you see MORE of it.

So… If your home environment is set up to support your health, your brain keeps serving you cues that match it:

→ Your sneakers are near the door. I’m going to go for a walk after dinner.

→ Your water bottle is on your desk. It’s time for a big gulp of hydration.

→ There’s healthy food sitting at eye level in your fridge. Those blueberries will make a great snack later.

Basically, you have a space that makes it easier to be active and harder to indulge in foods and activities that don’t support your goals.

And at the same time, if your environment is filled with things that pull you off track, guess what your algorithm serves you? More of the same.

The good news is that you can edit your feed at any time.

Here are a few simple ways to redesign your environment so it works for you instead of against you:

Bring an apple or some berries to work for a snack

Put your gym bag in the car so it’s there when you need it

Use an app that tracks your movement and reminds you when you’ve hit your daily milestones.

These cues teach your algorithm what to serve you more of.

Once your brain gets the message, staying consistent feels so much easier!

Try this…

Find one way to reset your algorithm this week (that one little nudge can start the process of triggering an update!).

Here’s what I’m going to do to make my personal algorithm more effective:

Put my favorite sheets on the bed, because they always make going to bed feel like a treat.

Keep up the good work,
