Riding a gravy train with biscuit wheels đ
Nov 05, 2022 12:06 am
Southernism of the Week: âHeâs riding a gravy train with biscuit wheels.â That means heâs lucky, because, we guess, biscuits and gravy are yummy when done right. We already had that for the Southern Treat of the Week, but read on for this weekâs nod to delicious (but not necessarily healthy) Southern favorite, below.
Is Bear Bear on the gravy train? He looks pretty comfy, if you remember that ferrets like to sleep in twisty positions
Krisâs voice recognition mistake of the week #1: "I could use another mug of mold wine." 𤢠shudder. Or as voice recognition would say, shutter.
Kris is scheduling this before she leaves for a week in New York City! Sheâs hoping for nice fall weather and good health as she sees lots of writing friends and faces public transportation. Meanwhile, Doug is enjoying California fall with wine tastings and other activities suitable for a fancy Hollywood type (or even Doug).
Itâs never too early for holiday (or any time) shopping â or to stock up on books to read when you need a break during the busy holiday season or when hiding from bad weather! Of course, you can visit the Amazon series page or the B&N page for Felony Melanie: Sweet Home Alabama romantic comedy novels or find the links to other ebook retailers, if you havenât read all three books yet (or know someone else who would like them).
Of Felony Melanie and the Prank War, a BookBub reviewer said, "What a fun story. If you loved Sweet Home Alabama, you are going to really enjoy this story. This book reminds me so much of the high school rivalry between the two schools in my small home town."
In Krisâs humorous Accidental Detective series, a witty journalist solves mysteries in Arizona and tackles the challenges of starting over in midlife. Have you read all three books? Would the paperbacks make great gifts for a mystery lover you know? Find all the links to the series here.
Krisâs Accidental Billionaire Cowboys series launches soon! (Yes, I have accidental detectives and accidental billionaires. I guess I'm accident-prone.)
Who wouldn't want to be a billionaire? Turns out winning the lottery causes as many problems as it solves. The Billionaire Cowboyâs Christmas comes out November 8 and you can preorder now.
When Josh Tomlinsonâs Texas ranching family wins a fortune in the lottery, the formerly tight-knit family is suddenly on edge. Seeking advice, Josh reluctantly contacts family friend and now attorney, Carly Garza. Carlyâs crushed on Josh for years, but now his client and billionaire statuses put him firmly out of reach.
Theyâre already keeping the familyâs lottery win a secret from the town. Can they also hide their budding romance during the most magical time of year?
Bonus voice recognition mistake of the week: âMarley sipped her primal monkey auto.â Voice recognition does not know fancy coffee terms, such as caramel macchiato. Or else I donât know how to pronounce them.
Southern Treat of the Week: Creamed corn: âSoutherners enjoy corn in all shapes and forms! Originally a Native American food, creamed corn has become a staple of Southern cuisine. To make your own, you'll need milk and heavy cream or cream cheese,â per Eat This. We wouldnât want something that could almost pass as a vegetable to be remotely healthy!
A giant lizard cloud is climbing over the mountain! Or a fluffy white dog running across the hilltops, a cat stalking a cloud, or a ground squirrel, stomping the scenery as if it were Godzilla, depending on whom you ask.
