Voice recognition mistake of the day: "I hope you and I can have a ketchup walk sometime." (I'd relish that!)

Fun fact: The first official cat café in the U.S. opened in 2014.

"It’s likely that purring has communication, appeasement, and healing properties," says Stephen Dowling, on BBC. Read “The complicated truth about a cat’s purr.”

New Mexico continues to be beautiful, if sometimes ominous.

A quick peek at Cupcakes and Confessions at The Cat Café as Sean thinks he sees someone he knows on a plane:

Holly was still alone when he reached her row. Her dark hair swung across her face as she dug through a backpack on the floor between her feet. She hadn’t noticed him yet.

This could be fun. Holly enjoyed his weird sense of humor.

Sean dropped into the seat next to her. “The raven flies at midnight,” he muttered out of the side of his mouth, as if they were spies meeting in an old movie.

The woman jerked up and twisted to stare at him.

  It wasn’t Holly.

Sean’s face flamed. “Oh! Um. Sorry, I thought you were someone else. Wow, you really look like her. Except you’re a lot older.” He winced. “Not that you’re old.” Women could be sensitive about that kind of thing. “Only, I think she’s twenty-three, and you’re clearly …”

He trailed off. What would be least offensive? She was probably around forty, a good decade younger than he was, but if he guessed at that and overshot – or even if he was correct – she might still be hurt. For some reason, most women hated to look their age.

  “Over thirty?” he suggested.

She kept staring. He couldn’t blame her. He was socially awkward at the best of times, so if he recognized how inappropriate he’d been, it must be bad. An attractive woman like her probably got all kinds of weird pickup lines.

Should he tell her he wasn’t hitting on her?

No. That usually went poorly, one way or the other.
