If you don’t like to be scared, this is the Halloween romantic fantasy for you. Tim Burton’s quirky gothic style is on full display as a family takes in a man with scissors for hands who was built by a deceased inventor. Touching, funny, and with one of the best scores of all time.

Let the Right One In (2008)

If you like to be scared, you can’t miss this Swedish movie about a bullied twelve-year-old boy who befriends a vampire girl. It’s not a comedy, although it has some hilarious lines, but it is achingly romantic. The relationship between the leads is complex and powerful, and the horror scenes are terrifying. (See the Swedish original, not the remake.)
