This is Kris some years ago (ahem-many years ago, when she had the energy for this kind of thing) with "The Enormous Crocodile" from the Roald Dahl cookbook. It's a loaf of bread split in half and filled with spinach dip (the recipe called for egg salad). It's covered with spinach dip pureed with extra spinach to make it really green. Artichoke leaves for spines, hardboiled egg eyes with olives for the pupils, prosciutto tongue, almonds for teeth. The mouth is held open with toothpicks.

That should have been "start a series with a novella that can be made cheap or free." I don't know how cheap or free became boyfriend.
Southern Treat of the Week: “Have you heard of hummingbird cake? This pineapple-banana spiced dessert is topped with sweet cream cheese frosting. No wonder it's a Southern celebration staple.” Via “50 Foods You Can Only Find in the South.”
