Wait a minute, what day is it? Oh, right, it's Friday! Time for a newsletter.

I had plans to go tubing on the Rio Grande with my husband and some friends yesterday. (It's not as dramatic as it might sound. The Rio Grande is quite shallow and slow going past our town.) But I woke up in pain because I apparently sprained my back while sleeping. Sigh. So I stayed home to read and catch up on some work. Meanwhile, my husband got a pretty bad sunburn, so we're both in pain today. I hope your Fourth of July was much better! (Even those who aren't American – you deserve a good day too!). We did get to watch the city's fireworks from our patio last night, which was nice.

Fortunately, it's now monsoon season in New Mexico and we've actually been getting rain! It's always comforting when that happens before people start shooting off their own fireworks all over town. Plus the clouds are pretty.

Voice recognition mistake of the day: Jen gave a little gas." Gasp. She gave a gasp. That’s from The Accidental Detective humorous mystery series book 7, which I'm editing now. Title to be determined. It involves dognapping, squatting (as in illegally living in someone else's house, not weightlifting or anything), and dispensary burglaries. Someone Sinister on (something) Street, maybe? Something Purloined from the Puppy Park?
