Relish her smile that looked ... mustard?

Voice recognition mistake of the day: “Betty smiled brightly but looked mustard.”

imageOr maybe flustered? That was from my new free short story: “Leave No Stone Unturned: A Reluctantly Psychic Short Mystery”: Petra and Haven are in Santa Fe to sell rocks and minerals at an arts market. When a woman approaches them with a strange story, and Petra uses her psychic power to sense that this stranger is truly in trouble, they must figure out how to stop a murder. Get it free here. This is a giveaway for newsletter subscribers. The story takes place after book 2 in the series but it can be read any time. (If you see a typo or anything is confusing, please let me know! You're the first people to read this.)

The story mentions the “chocolate trail.” 🍫 Learn more about “Santa Fe & Chocolate: A Love Affair Older than the City Itself.”

imageDeath at Rock Bottom: Reluctantly Psychic Murder Mystery Book 2 is out! In the Reluctantly Psychic Mystery series, a quirky loner gets drawn into mysteries at the museum of oddities where she works.

Now Petra faces another mystery after the death of a retired petroleum engineer and rockhound who died while hiking. Frank acted odd in his last weeks, whispering about aliens. Was he showing the first signs of dementia, or were more sinister forces at work? Petra’s book club becomes a crime-fighting club, but Petra must use her psychic gift and her brains to fight through the clues along with her newfound family.

I had a good time at the Romance Writers Association conference in Niagara Falls. I met a lot of other writers and came home with a list of things to do for my career. In between giving and attending conference sessions, I got to check out the sights, including a boat tour into the heavy spray at the base of the falls – but a photo from that close would just be white with spray, so here's one from a distance.

The conference hotel had a good view of the falls (at least from the tenth floor restaurant), and it was a short walk to visit them every day.

Rigby and Mercury were very good boys in my absence, of course.
