Possum pie or melon rinds?

Southernism of the Week: “She ain't got the good sense God promised a Billy goat.” Seems all too relevant these days! I also need to find a place to use “Swat my hind with a melon rind!” 🐐

Southern Treat of the Week: Possum Pie: "a traditional American pie originating from Arkansas, where it enjoys a cult-like status. The name of the pie is a play on words because to play possum means to be asleep or dead, referring to the fact that the whipped cream topping of this pie hides two more layers underneath – one made of chocolate, and the other of cream cheese, vanilla pudding, or sour cream." –TasteAtlas. Here’s a recipe.

Doug’s Rom Com Faves: The Big Sick (2017)
Written by Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani, directed by Michael Showalter
Based on the true story of Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani, this is one of the few rom-coms where one of the love interests is comatose for much of the film (perhaps “While You Were Sleeping” is the only other.) It’s a modern take on the rom-com, dealing with issues of inter-cultural dating. It’s also quite funny and deeply emotional.
