Developmental Editing


I have a gap before my next work for hire assignment starts, and I need to make some money to pay off vet and car repair bills and prepare for the holidays. That means I’m offering a discount on editorial critiques! See critique recommendations here or reply to this email to arrange for a critique or ask to see an example.

 

My regular price is $2.50 per page for novels and $60 for picture books up to 1200 words. Pay by October 15 and get the “repeat client” rate of $2.00 per page for novels and $50 for picture books. (If you already are a repeat client, remind me and I’ll give you an additional 10% off.) You can schedule the critique for any time later this year if you aren’t quite ready yet.

 

That price is based on standard manuscript format/​double-spaced, and I provide general editorial comments (plot/​character/​flow/​language notes). It’s usually a 4-to-6-page editorial letter for novels, and one to two pages for picture books, plus specific notes on the manuscript. I’m happy to talk about marketability and next steps in the publishing path, if you like.
