Southernism of the Week: “Act like you been to town before.” This one might come in useful as more people get back to social activities!
We hope you’re finding time to relax this summer, like Panda and Bear Bear, Kris’s ferrets.
Southern Treat of the Week: Southern Living says, “Southerners love to bake but don't always want to heat up their kitchens, especially in the warmer spring and summer months. And that's where icebox pies come in…” Icebox pies are a chilled dessert made in a pie plate. Here's a recipe for Lemon Icebox Pie.
Kris says: I love my phone's suggestions for what I want to type next. Following "we need..." it suggested "following, money, power." I thought we needed the address of the person we're going to visit, but I'd take money, and authors can always use a following. 😁
News from Doug: Curious about the movie business? “A new season of my Let's Schmooze video podcast commences with an episode about what screenwriters can learn from film editors, featuring writer/directer Khalil Sullins and editor Howard Heard, who collaborated on the film LISTENING.” Watch it here.
Praise for Felony Melanie and the Big Smashup: Thanks to meisorange for this review: “This book had me laughing all the way through it.” Visit the Amazon series page for Felony Melanie: Sweet Home Alabama romantic comedy novels.
