Manic Pixie Dream Girls vs. cute animals

Do you know the term "Manic Pixie Dream Girl"?
It's a movie trope where the female lead is a wacky, energetic, beautiful young woman who inexplicably falls for the dull, brooding hero and teaches him to live freely and love madly. I'm writing “Death of a Manic Pixie Dream Girl,” a mystery novel based around Hollywood movie making. It’s fun to jump into a very different world for a while, before I dive into the fifth cat café novel, which will feature Diane (the mother of Kari and Marley, female leads in books 1 and 2).
In the meantime, you can get the first three cat café books as a collection, and number 4 is also out. In Romance and Rescues at the Cat Café, Holly and Duncan go on a road trip to rescue dozens of cats from a spooky house before they're trapped by a snowstorm! Get them all on my Amazon US page or Amazon UK page. (For other countries click here.) Don’t forget, they are free in Kindle Unlimited.
Review snippet for Coffee and Crushes: "This book is just warm fuzzies all over!"
Speaking of warm fuzzies, Panda the ferret gets so snugly in her favorite blanket.
Cat cafés in the news: Cat & Craft Co. is an online marketplace meant to reach cat lovers all over the nation with fun apparel, gifts and accessories that celebrate the human-cat connection. Supporting places like this (if you can afford to do so) helps them stay in business and rescue more cats. They have a "virtual cat lounge" priced at $2.99 per week, but when I signed up, it gave me a lifetime option of only $15.
Voice recognition mistake of the day: "Writing Siblings Release Sweet Ham Alabama Prequel."
So is "Felony Melanie" crime-busting at a meat packing plant that is breaking the law? Or simply using her mother’s recipe for ham baked with a Coca-Cola glaze?
Felony Melanie in Pageant Pandemonium: A Sweet Home Alabama romantic comedy is available at various ebook retailers and in paperback.
If you missed our live book launch, you can view it here - with special guests from the Sweet Home Alabama movie, Jake's buddies Clinton and Sheriff Wade.
Cute of the day: Have you seen the sports announcer narrating his two dogs’ activities such as eating breakfast? You can find them all here. I especially like the "Company Meeting" video.
Nature: The Ocotillo cacti are beautiful this time of year. Weird, but beautiful.
Yum: I hear a lot of people are using the isolation time for baking. I haven’t done much, although I am thinking about making lemon bars soon. If you need some inspiration, the Dying for Chocolate blog has plenty of recipes. Recent ones include Chocolate Chip Biscuits, Chocolate Bear Claws, and Chocolate Apple Pie.
How about taking a book vacation with something new? The Mother's Day Promo group event has a variety of romance novels, all in Kindle Unlimited (and for sale).
Books on My Radar:
Love in the Spotlight, by Laura Burton: This sounds fun, right?
I applied to be on my favourite TV show, The Love Trials, as a joke. I never expected to get chosen.
I mean, come on! I'm single, for one thing. It's a couples game.
And yet, here I am. In a Scottish castle––no less––and about to make a fool of myself on national television.
The producers say they're going to match me up with a total stranger. We need to fool the other couples––and the British public––that we are totally legit. Easy enough, right?
Law #1: Never Bet on Love: Standalone Billionaire Opposites Attract Romance (Laws of Love) by Agnes Canestri: Her books are well reviewed, and this sounds like a good one if you'd like a sweet billionaire story and enjoy seeing a man fall in love despite himself.
"... When my brother bets that I can’t connect deeply enough with a woman to win her heart—and my mother makes winning that bet a condition of my promotion—I accept the challenge. Too bad I never considered what would happen if I was the one to fall in love when all is said and done."
