Happy Thursday, !

You may have read that for a goal to be effective, it needs to be a SMART Goal.

In other words, it needs to be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely.

Ummm … if you’ve been around long enough, there’s a good chance you read that in this very newsletter.

But I have some good news!

Goals don’t have to be this complicated.

In fact, an effective goal really only needs two components.

The first two.

It needs to be Specific. “Losing weight” or “toning up” are nit specific enough. “Lose 5 pounds” or “lose 2 inches off my belly” are much better.

And it needs to be Timely. In other words, it needs to have a deadline. “Lose 5 pounds in 8 weeks,” or “drop 3 dress sizes in 3 months” give you a deadline to “do the thing.”

Don’t overcomplicate your goals. Decide on a specific outcome and a timeframe during which you want it to happen.

And by the way … if you don’t achieve the goal in the timeframe you set, does that mean you failed?

Not at all.

It just means you’re not finished yet.

Keep going.

Committed to your success,

Coach Lu
