A study published in the International Journal of Sports and Exercise Psychology found that there are THREE types of support that influence our results:

 

๐Ÿค Emotional support: can help you START and MAINTAIN a health and fitness routine.

This could mean having someone to commiserate withโ€ฆ or someone to cheer you on!


๐Ÿค Practical support: doesnโ€™t necessarily help you START a new routine, but it can help you keep up a routine once youโ€™ve got the ball rolling (like a walking buddy you meet up with every weekend).


๐Ÿค Negative support: can lead you to do LESS! This is when certain people (we all know them!) try to talk you out of your new habits so THEY donโ€™t have to change.

 

If you donโ€™t have the other two kinds of support, itโ€™s easy to let the negative support sabotage your progress!
