Happy Thursday, !

I’ve got a great breathing technique that can help you stop stress in its tracks.

It’s called “cyclic sighing” and it can help activate your body’s parasympathetic (rest & digest) nervous system, which helps soothe your body (and your emotions!).

Breathing techniques like this one are great to have in your “resilience toolbox” to help you stay calm and focused during the day.

A key component of resilience is that it helps you keep your cool in the face of pressure.

Here’s how to practice cyclic sighing:

● Breathe in through your nose.

● When your lungs feel comfortably full, take a second, deep sip of air to expand your lungs even more.

● Then, very slowly, exhale through your mouth until your lungs feel empty.

You probably will notice a difference in just 1-2 breaths.

For max benefits, the experts at Stanford Medicine who studied this breathing technique suggest trying it for 5 minutes total.

So simple, so effective.
