It is Hard

Dear ,

Argh! The first month of the year is done. Where has the time gone? As I look around, it seems I keep on asking myself that question, I thought I’d have been married and had children by now… I thought I’d have forgotten the pain of that initial abuse and relax into the ‘perfect' relationship by now. I thought…. Fill in the blank.

And here’s the thing, those of us who have been hurt think the pain will eventually go away. But…we’ve got to do some work. We’ve got to forgive.

Now, I understand if the idea of forgiving someone who deeply hurt you seems illogical. Trust me, I’ve been there.

For years, I carried the memory of abuse and could not let go of the pain. But then, a realization struck me. By holding onto the hurt, I was only victimizing myself further.

It wasn’t about he. It was about me!

It was time for a change.
