At 6:05 this morning, my phone pinged — another application for Soul Story Retreat.

I didn’t expect what would come out of that conversation.

It was heart-wrenching.

She didn’t begin with her achievements.

Or her plans.

She began here:

Her son.

Her only child.

The one she gave everything to.

He turned his back on her — with his wife beside him — at the exact moment she needed him most.

There is a particular kind of pain in that.

Not loud. Not dramatic.

But deeply humbling.

Deeply private.

The kind that sits in your chest and quietly asks,

How did love end up here?

I stayed with her in it for a while.

And after the call, I found myself thinking about how many of you are carrying something similar this week.

Not just mothers.

But anyone who has loved fully…

given generously…

and found themselves standing alone on the other side of it.

If that’s you — I wrote something for you.

Not to fix it.

Not to rush you through it.

Just to sit beside you in it…
