Your Voice Was Never Lost—Just Waiting
Jul 15, 2025 5:01 pm
Dear ,
You shared that you’ve been feeling disconnected from your voice, your desires, and perhaps, from the version of yourself that once felt whole.
Whether that disconnection has come through betrayal, grief, overgiving, or simply years of holding everyone else together, please remember that you are not alone. And Soul Story retreat isn’t asking you to be someone new. It’s inviting you to remember who you’ve always been beneath the noise; to remember who you were before the silence… before the heartbreak… before survival became your only language.
The Silence That Speaks Volumes
, when your authentic voice goes quiet and feels far away, it doesn’t vanish. No, it's not gone. It’s because life—sometimes tender, sometimes brutal—has layered over it. Your ture voice has been buried under the weight of responsibility, heartbreak, and the pressure to hold it all together.
Sometimes that silence follows deep loss—like the unbearable grief of losing a child, a dream, or a piece of identity you never thought you’d have to surrender.
You may have learned to silence your truth to keep the peace. To diminish your needs to avoid conflict. To question your instincts because someone you trusted taught you to doubt them.
Other times, it shows up after years of overfunctioning—being the strong one, the reliable one, the one who gets things done even while falling apart inside.
Those survival roles may have helped you cope. But they are not you.
A Safe Return to Self
At the Soul Story Retreat this weekend (July 18–20), we are creating a space that honours what you carry—without requiring you to explain or justify it.
This is a sanctuary for those who are tired of performing resilience.
A place where grief is not rushed, and softness is not seen as weakness. Your grief, confusion, or rage doesn’t make you “too much”
Together, we will gently make room for your true voice to return through:
✨ Silence Work – making space to hear what’s been long buried
✨ Body Wisdom – honouring what your body knows but the world ignores
✨ Story Archaeology – sifting through what you’ve inherited, absorbed, and survived
✨ Voice Practices – speaking your truth, even if your voice trembles
You Can Come Home to Yourself
Healing doesn’t mean erasing the past.
It means honouring it and choosing not to let it have the final word.
Even if you feel shattered, even if you’ve spent decades holding everyone else up, even if grief still takes your breath away…
Your story is still unfolding.
Just like Shelly, from our last retreat, who chose to “propose” to the life and love she’s put on hold. or, Like Avi, who said curiosity is calling her back to herself.
Like the mother who lost her son—whose presence at the retreat is not a signal of closure, but of courage, who is showing up not to move on—but to move with her grief in a new way. Even through pain, something in her still says: Come.
Like the woman who stayed too long, trusted too deeply, or gave too much… and is finally ready to give back to herself.
What Your Voice Might Tell You
When your real voice returns, you may hear things you’ve longed to believe:
“You deserve safety and softness.”
“What happened was not your fault.”
“You don’t have to hold everything alone.”
“You can still choose joy—even after betrayal.”
“You are allowed to want more.”
Or, it may speak truths you’ve tried to ignore:
- “You don’t have to carry it all anymore.”
- “You’re allowed to rest—even when things are still unfinished.”
- “You’re still here. And you still matter.”
- “You don’t have to be who you were before the loss to deserve joy now.”
You don’t need answers to come. You just need the willingness to listen.
We’ll help you find your way back to yourself.
And we will hold that journey with care, reverence, and quiet power.
See you this weekend in Portland. Your voice, your grief, your wisdom—they’re welcome here.
You are not too much. You are not too late. You are already enough.
With deep honor for all you carry,
Dr Sandra Hamilton
