Why Does Wanting Feel Uncomfortable?

Dear ,

I’m taking you into the weekend with something to chew on…

a question that touches the quiet places inside many of us. It keeps coming up in my work, in conversation, and in the quiet places inside each of us:

Is wanting neutral? Is it even natural?

For many women and for many people whose identities were shaped by histories of erasure, wanting has never been a simple act. It often carries tension, hesitation, or the feeling that our desires need permission to exist.

This week, I wrote something that explores why. Not from a place of blame or urgency, but from the long view of history and the soft truth of the body.

If you’ve ever wondered why wanting can feel unsafe, or why choosing yourself feels like crossing an invisible line, this piece may speak to you.

You can read it here:

Why Desire Feels Unsafe

And , if it stirs something in you… if a part of you whispers, “Yes, this is me,” know that Soul Repair is where we explore these inherited tensions gently, without pressure and without the need to perform strength.

With tenderness,
