TGIF, humans!! TGIF!

Dear humans,

It comes as no surprise the female is tired mixed in with more tired and some even more tired. She'd drink a quarantini, but she doesn't get along well with alcohol, so she's writing instead. That's almost the same thing, right?

This is a general update email to let you know what's going on, etc, etc, etc, if you read our blog, you may have already seen some of this.

Before we get onto that, the important stuff:

1: The Blain Household is fine. The smoke has mostly cleared for a brief respite before it kicks up again. The humans have enjoyed opening windows for the first time since July.

2: The female was in a rut for about a month, but it seems she remembers how to write again, and she is in a rather terrifying frenzy.

3: Do not panic about her schedule. This IS light work for her, and can be accomplished within 2-4 hours every day. This isn't even a full day of work for her, starting in January. Please do not panic, please do not panic.

Her new schedule gives her a chance to play more in 2021+, which is what she wants.

If the book you want is not on the list, it is a play project. That really DOES mean the female has no idea when it will be done. Play projects are worked on only if her daily 'real' work is done and she's feeling up for it. As such, there are zero deadlines on them, so we can't even estimate when they'll be ready.

We're not sorry.

So, here's the schedule, written from the female's perspective:

After Booked for Kidnapping releases, no preorders will be set up without the book being completed. Audiobooks will be produced on a case-by-case basis, depending on how well the ebooks sell. (The ebooks pay for the audiobooks, and the audiobooks cost around 2k+ each.)If you do not see the book or series you want on the list, it is officially a play project. That means it gets worked on only after my daily obligations to the books that pay the bills (see the list below) are worked on.

This is the best compromise I can give you.

Yes, Royal States and the Bernadette Franklin books are play projects, and they are being worked on. Yes, I will be continuing to work on the Rift King and Erelith books. Yes, I’m planning on a Mag Rom Com anthology that contains a lot of the ‘book two’ or sequel stories people want. No specific publication dates will be made for these play projects. (They are going to be for my amusement, and I’m doing them to keep my promise to finish them.)

Unfortunately, that leads me to the next bit of important news: any future pen names I write will *not* be made public, and if you accidentally stumble upon them, great!

I will be writing in fiction genres that the majority of my readers would not enjoy, and there are enough readers within my fanbase that would like me to stay in my lane that I will be writing my other interests incognito and as play projects.

It’s not worth dealing with the hate. If you do find the books I’ve written in other fiction genres in the future, pat yourself on the back, tell yourself that you’re awesome, and keep it to yourself.

No, I will not be private messaging anyone with the pen names, and I probably won’t even announce what the genres are. They’re play projects, and I want them to stay fun for me.

Onto the schedule, including the preorder links for the last batch.

Also, dear humans...

... please ignore the female's anxiety attacks over how she is changing her schedule, as she will no longer be able to predict future earnings.

Regarding the Sekrit Projekt booked in: it is a fiction general that is outside of the sf/f field, and as there were those who are unhappy she is branching out, she is not planning on sharing the pen names at this point in time. However, she may consider dropping some hints and turning it into a somewhat complicated scavenger hunt for the books for the fans really determined to read everything she writes.

There were just enough people unhappy it might delay their preferred series that the female is concerned angry readers will go review those books (or even her current books) that she's doing these things... that she wants to do, because she finds them fun.

So, at current, the solution is to keep it secret, keep it safe.

And yes, we already have reviews on books where readers are upset their favorite series wasn't worked on, and they have deducted stars/revenge reviewed because it wasn't the book they wanted. It's already happening, and we feel it would just get even worse because the new pen names are not in a form of fiction with any ties to speculative fiction.

We are sorry, but we've learned this lesson already. No, we will not be telling people in private what the pen names are.
