I'm creating original content with AI

Why I’m Still Creating Original Content

Hey ,

I recently upgraded my ChatGPT account and started experimenting with AI in new ways.

At work, I created a UX design GPT to assist me, and it has reduced the time I spend brainstorming.

I also explored using AI in Figma for faster design completion. Even though that's not super impressive, these experiments opened my eyes to more AI applications I hadn't considered before.

Last month, I was trying to create a course to help people with multiple skills, passions, and interests build a business based on their top strengths.

As I worked on the course, I realized the need to integrate AI into the process, so I started to develop and test specific prompts for different AIs to see how effective the results could be.

Despite the intelligence of ChatGPT and other AI tools, which are trained on extensive online data, I came to realise the importance of creating original and unique content.

All AIs are trained on “the whole Internet.”

They’re pretty smart. They know a lot.

But it is critical to create original knowledge and content in our new AI world.

If all you do is copy/paste prompts, take AI output, and publish or sell it, you don’t have a valuable business.

So if your goal is for your business to stand out, then you need to be the expert.

This involves creating original knowledge and content that reflect your unique perspective and experiences.

And I'm not referring to 'aspire to perspire'.

Many new creators might be tempted by the convenience of AI-generated content, but relying solely on this can be a significant mistake.

Even though I spend money on AI tools for my job and business, my focus remains on producing original content.

This is because generic AI output cannot replace the depth and relevance of content derived from personal expertise and real-world experiences.

For example, the UX GPT I told you about above, in order to create and train AI, I fed it with real data from our research participants, our company's unique healthy ageing framework, and specific spreadsheets that contained vital health metrics that would be useful for my designs.

Imagine 100 health coaches asking ChatGPT to write an article about the benefits of using smartwatches for an older adult.

In that case, they’ll get similar, generic output.

If they prompt it to create a course outline or book teaching how to lose weight with a plant-based diet, they’ll get the same thing.

Can you tweak the prompts to get more unique content? Yes.

But at the end of the day, it generates output based on the average of all the knowledge it has derived from “the Internet”.

Is it right? Is it accurate? Is it up to date?

I'll leave you to answer that...

You and I know some of the most popular and widely referenced content is wrong or outdated.

But that’s what AI is using.

Imagine hundreds of thousands of people generating tons of content from that same body of knowledge.

Search YouTube for “30 blog posts in a day,” and you’ll get a good idea of what’s happening and what’s coming.

Since you're here, you cannot be the same as everyone else.

Not even your social media content should be that generic.

So here's how you can effectively integrate AI into your workflow while ensuring your content remains original and impactful:

  1. Deepen Your Expertise: If you've ever wanted to be an expert who focuses on developing and sharing unique knowledge, this is your time. Expertise can come from personal experiences, client work, sparks of curiosity, or experiments. Document what you learn and use it to create valuable content for your audience.
  2. Use AI Wisely and Abundantly: Don't for once think I'm against AI. Nope! I want you to leverage AI as a tool to enhance your work, not replace it. Use AI to refine your ideas, speed up your workflow, and explore new perspectives. But always start with your original thought or concept.
  3. Amplify Your Content: Turn your expertise into various content formats—videos, blogs, and courses—and use AI to help repurpose and distribute your content more widely. This approach allows you to reach a broader audience without sacrificing the quality or originality of your message.

By following these steps, you can harness the power of AI to support your business while ensuring that your unique voice and expertise remain at the forefront of what you do.

Did you notice how AI wrote the paragraph you just read?

Yep! This newsletter was written by ChatGPT based on an original idea (a piece of text) I supplied.

If I get enough responses to today's newsletter, I might do an online class on how I'm using AI in my workflow.

I'd love to get your response to today's newsletter. Reply and tell me your favourite part.

  1. I love it because...😍
  2. I don't like it because...🙈
  3. It does not make any sense at all. 😡

Just send me a reply with the number that resonates most with you.

Live courageously,
