Hi ,
Which do you prefer, real or fake?
When it comes to adapting work based on real life, there's two major schools of thought. There's a straight adaptation as faithfully as possible. Excellent biographical examples would be Apollo 13 and Darkest Hour. Then there's those that use a real event, some real people, but the narrative is fictional. An example might be Saving Private Ryan and The Last Samurai.
All are entertaining, but sometimes history doesn't tell us the narrative we want so we make our own.
Which do you prefer? Any favourites? And what does this have to do with anything?
Because, as the headline suggests, I'm handing out the latest Ranger story. Previous stories, especially Ghost Town, had elements of reality woven into them. So this latest one, Flight 51, is directly inspired by the tragedy of the Challenger explosion in 1986.
It's a terrible disaster that's echoed down the decades and changed space travel in a similar way the sinking of the Titanic changed ocean travel. So, with inspiration taken from reality, I've woven a narrative to tell a story inspired by the losses suffered. You can reply to this email to tell me what you thought.
I hope you enjoy the read. Without further adew -
And when you're done with that one, I've got a fellow author whose work is available to you for nothing! Check it out -
Enjoy.
Have a great read!
