Is this real?

Hi ,

What a month it's been so far, I can't believe we're in February already!

I've barely made a dent in any of my TBR list and there's going to be more things coming out soon!

#wheretobegin?

So, I actually diverted off the path of righteousness and delved into some television. I know, right? But I came across an interesting alterantive-history show that worked on the question of, what would have happened if the Russians had landed on the moon first?

It made for an interesting retelling of events, some historical, with a side-order of drama, of what if's? I love how it took a real event and time period and gradually moved away into its own space. Definitely science fiction, but almost real at the same time.

The other works I've personally read that does this is Philip K Dick's Man in the High Castle which, if you don't know, tells the story of the world under Hitler's rule and Stephen King's 11/22/63.

That's the great thing about science fiction, it can take us to remote worlds and possibilities or be as close to home as living memory but with a twist. It follows the same basic logic as asking what your family would look like if your grandparents had sweet talked someone else. (The places my mind goes, it's unruly!)

What do you think? Is alternate history something you've read before? And what event or time period do you think would make a great alternate history setting? One that I would like to see is what would the UK be like if the Windscale incident had polluted the entire north of the country?

Below is a link to the 'Boundless' promotion, a conglomeration of free works by other authors in multiple genres. You saw it in my last email and it's still here for the next three weeks. If there's anything you missed, you can check it out here -

You can reply to this email to let me know what alternate history you think would make for an interesting story? What are you enjoying at the minute?

Have a great read!
