I think we can all agree that we’re living through extraordinary times. Some think it's extraordinarily bad, some are simply uncertain. Clearly, It's a new world of and for business. If you are not doing things differently, seeking out innovations and opportunities, the future is decidedly not bright.

I'm building a window bench with storage for a bay window in our house. I'm being meticulous about this project because it’s the focal point of our second-floor landing. This is what my tools look like when I finish a work session. 

Now, this is called Knolling; a term coined by the furniture company, Knoll.  It means lining up tools or parts in a particular or parallel order. It might look a little OCD, but the nice thing about this for me, (who’s not OCD) is that it establishes a routine to mark the end of a work session. It illustrates that I’m done for now.

It's also about the notion of control. Anywhere in our lives where we can have a sense of control is a valuable thing and why Less Doing’s Inbox Zero continues to be a perfect place to start. Establishing control minimizes overwhelm, stress, and decision-making. You can do this kind of ritual at your desk, with meal prep, and especially with your kids’ myriad accouterments.
