What's been happening

image

The biggest thing by a long way that's happened is that my brother got married. He's 69 and has never been married before. It's so lovely seeing them loved up and enjoying each other's company. So we now have a whole bunch of new relations which we are enjoying getting to know.

The ceremony was very small and at the very beautiful Lewes registry office. Then we skedaddled up to Devils Dyke (what a view!) hoping for scones and Prosecco, but it was drizzly by then, so we all repaired to the pub for a drink.

I'd love to go back and do one of the walks around there, it was stunning!

Then went off to their Air BnB where we had the aforementioned scones, and all being the big drinkers that we are, the Prosecco didn't even get opened!

Then on Saturday, there was a big party at his new wife's house which was absolutely lovely. And on Sunday, lots of us repaired to an Italian for yet more food and laughs.

By the end, I don't know about anyone else, but I felt thoroughly weddinged!

I've upped my Mounjaro to 7.5mg from 5mg. I'm rather behind with my jab assisted weight loss as I stayed on 5mg for too long. I thought it was the Mounjaro making me feel a bit nauseous and with an upset stomach every morning. But no, it was the statins. The very next day after stopping them, the symptoms went away. I've got another months worth of 7.5mg, then I'll up it to 10mg and hope for a bot more success. I've lost 1st 5lbs so far and people are beginning to notice - which is lovely!

I've started back at choir now and really enjoying it. We have LOADS of gigs lined up for the next few months, the first of which is a Stand Up 2 Cancer one at a local church this coming Friday.

I've been busy updating the pricing on the meal plans and they are mostly coming out just fine, which is amazing considering how long ago some of them were written!

Caramelised Onions

image

Onions are a flavour powerhouse. They are sweet, savoury and pungent all at once. Caramelised onions have all that umami flavour concentrated and are very useful

In Meal Plan 2, there are 750g of onions left after all the recipes have been made, so I thought I’d use them to make this very useful condiment to use as you wish throughout the week. Onions cooked this way are delicious and very versatile. This quantity will make about 1 jam jar full.

Tomato Risotto

image

If you are like me and grow tomatoes in your garden, you are likely to have large amount of them at this time of year. I was looking for ways to use a lot in one go and came up with tomato risotto which used 400g for me and my husband. Oh my goodness, was it good! The delicious depth of flavour that good tomato gives, creamy from parmesan with a little bite from the rice.
