What's been happening

image

Sixteen of us went off to Bewl Water Reservoir a couple of weekends for a spot of glamping. There were four generations! Me and Mike slept in a yurt which had a double bed and 2 singles, as well as carpets and a woodburner. My granddaughter brought a friend and they spent the whole weekend sloping off on their own, which is how it should be.

There was a 3 year old and a six year old who were totally in awe of these glamorous teenage beings and kept staring at them. It was so funny! They were also like little Energiser bunnies, totally wearing out all the grown ups.

The young'uns went on the aqua park, we had a bbq, pizza from the lovely little cafe, a ghost walk in the woods, sports on the field.

It was lovely! I totally chilled as no-one was making any demands of me. There was lots of laughing and chatting and general hanging out.

The site is very beautiful, with lots to do and see, well worth a visit if you're ever in the area.

Then last weekend, we mosied on over to the annual Waldron Classic Cars show, always a blast! There are lots of stalls, and various entertainments throughout the day - including the Cake & Wine Club Choir. Mike and I found a spot and sat and watched their performance, with me joining in with the ones that I knew. I hope to be returning to the choir in a few weeks.

I took a video of one of the songs, but I can't load those here, which is a shame.

On the 25th of August we have le Marche in Heathfield, an Anglo/ French market that has been running for the last 28 years. Lots of entertainment all day on the stage and in the high street, including the choir on the stage. Above are some of the lovely choir members.

It might be a small market town, but there is plenty to do here, and the people are smashing!

The second weekly meal plan for the whole week - all three meals, plus snacks

Another weekly meal plan for you, I'll be doing their annual reprice in a few months. This one is based around salted cashews, black olives and soft cheese - the latter being an extremely versatile ingredient.

All the meal plans have breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks included, with nothing assumed to be in the cupboard at all, except salt.

Easy Red Lentil Nuggets / Patties / Fritters

image

Red lentils are packed full of protein, quick and easy to cook and very cheap to buy. So when I made this recipe, I couldn’t wait to try them. The red lentil nuggets are tasty just as they are, but you can dip them in good old tomato ketchup, mayonnaise or brown sauce. I like to make a dip of thick Greek yogurt and Pataks Brinjal pickle – yummy!
