Hey there,

Welcome to the Card Minnows Newsletter. Here's some of the coolest things I've seen this week:

Pokemon Stamp Box Promo Cards

The Japanese Post Office, JP Post, is partnering with Pokemon to create a special box set. This set costs 4000 Yen (~$40 USD) and comes with:

  • Sheet of stamp featuring the original Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard card art
  • “Anywhere Family” Pokemon Card Game
  • 2 Pokemon Promo Cards (1 each)
  • The box containing all these items has a Pokeball design

I am excited for these promo cards. These cards are based off of classic Japanese postage stamp art. My favorite is the card with Pikachu sitting on the woman looking over her shoulder.

The box is set to release on August 25, 2021. Preorders are available starting July 25th at 2pm Hawaii time on the JP Post website.

Panini America Press Release

Trading card products have become impossible to find at big retail stores over the recent months. I have run into nothing but empty shelves when I visit Walmart and Target. The situation has gotten so bad that Panini America, the company behind basketball and football cards, put out a statement yesterday.

Panini America states in their press release that:

  • Target and Walmart are still their retail partners.
  • Panini America is taking feedback and complaints seriously.
  • Target is only selling card products on Fridays and limiting guests to one unit
