One of my go-to mantras this year is this ...
Give the kids what they want!
I have a ton of students who could talk about nothing else but the new Taylor Swift album, so I decided to cobble together a few lesson plans to keep the learning in their wheelhouse.
In today's writing workshop video, you'll see my students tackling a literary analysis essay for "Anti-Hero" while pulling the strings of my templates.
This is the kicker about my templates ... they can be used uniformly across the expository modes so that all the mystery that usually trips kids up gets completely demystified.
By simply "Bob Ross-ing" my instruction from day number one, my students are already doing some stellar writing ... and they're eating it up!
If you'd like the slides featured in the video so that you can host your own writing workshop, just give me a holler.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
