When we hit 10 years married I got a cool idea from a friend to do Anniversary Questions each year. So thankful she shared this. I inquired a bit more and thought it was an amazing idea!
Communicating 💙is so important in a marriage and one thing that often times goes to the wayside! You gotta keep talking. Keeping the lines of communication open is key to keeping a marriage that lasts!
Anniversaries are a great time to reflect over the past year! For several years we went through the list of questions below.
It was fun but we wanted to get deeper as the years went on and so we sometimes look up questions and try to think of some of our own.
Last years questions were:
What are our wins this past year in our marriage and as individuals?
What are we doing well as parents?
What have we learned about each other this past year?
What can we do better as parents?
The year before:
What turns me on about you after all these years?
Share 3 things I appreciate about you?
What was the first impression I had of you?
What was your most fulfilling moment this year?
How have you grown in your walk with God alone and married?
Looking to this next year together-how can we improve our marriage?
What do you see our lives looking like in 5 years?
Is there any way you would want to change our daily/weekly routine?
Each of us take time the week prior to our anniversary to answer the questions, then on our anniversary to each get to answer, expand our answers while we talk and listen to each other. This is always are cherished time that we look forward to each year.
I decided to streamline it all and keep it in a little notebook that we just add to each year. In that notebook I also add some pictures and I journal what we did for our anniversary that year. To be honest, YOU FORGET! If you jot it down, it makes for a fun little trip down memory lane! This makes such a sweet keepsake that we can flip through each year!
We also will sometimes add cards that we give each other that year or if we get one from others.
We are going to choose a few questions from the past few years to answer this year! I'm looking forward to the opportunity to chit-chat with my hubby on the 18th as we celebrate 27 years!
🥰Consider this little marriage anniversary tradition! 🥰
