The big guy is coming...but I've got other news too!

Happy Holidays ,

Are you ready for the holidays? You should know, I'm always wrapping my gifts on Christmas Eve and paying extra fees to get my gifts shipped faster. So no matter where you are, no judgment here.

Social Media News you can Use:

Facebook rolled out IG Content Calendar:

If you haven't heard me talk about this before, the easiest and least expensive way to schedule content is through Creator Studio. This is native to the Facebook app and allows you to schedule both Facebook & Instagram posts. Well, they are listening to reasons content creators aren't using it, so they're always trying to improve. This content calendar is a monthly view of all of the posts you have scheduled through the app including posts, carousels and IGTV. Here is a great resource about Creator Studio and Instagram (I did not create it).

Marketing Predictions for 2021

This is such a fun article to read. It's a great wrap up of what 2020 brought and what to expect for 2021. Most intriguing thing to me: Tik Tok grew from 500 million in Dec 2019 to over a billion!! That's what a pandemic can do for you. And also, to all of the people asking "Should I be on Tik Tok for my business?" The answer these days is ABSOLUTELY YES!

Voice only Social Platforms

Have you guys heard of Clubhouse? It's a SUPER new app, only a couple of 1000 people are on it right now, and it's invite-only. So why do you care? It's an interesting idea. It's full of rooms of people talking, like audio talking. So you join rooms (like at a party) and either listen to the conversation or join in. Think of it like listening to a podcast (I LOVE me a good podcaster voice) but you can speak back. Supposedly, this is the next big social media trend. Seems crazy, but who knows! Look at how far social media has come! Here's a little more about it. And an article from Wired about voice social platforms.

Here are 5 ideas for content for next week (December 21st- December 25th)

Monday:

It's the first day of winter/Winter Solstice. It's also Monday which is a quote day for me so create a graphic in Canva with a quote about winter and how it relates to your brand. It could be thoughtful, fun, thought-provoking or more scientific. Just stay true to your brand messaging.

Tuesday:

It's getting really close to Christmas, if you're a local business it's a great day to remind your followers about any last-minute Christmas specials you are running. Think gift cards, stocking stuffers, etc. Add it to your feed and do a video story for maximum impact.

Wednesday:

Tell a story today. Tell a story about your holiday traditions, your family or your business. It's always good to include a personal touch to your social media content. This week is a great week to do so because people's schedules are different. You will probably see an overall engagement drop.

Thursday:

It's Christmas Eve. Make sure you've let your followers know about your Holiday Hours and remind them about last-minute sales and deals you may have going on.

Friday:

Merry Christmas! You will find on big holidays like this that your engagement is down. People are focused on many other things and not really scrolling too much. Wish your following a Happy Holidays with a business Christmas Card or even a picture of your family.

Here are the Hashtag Holidays for you to create content and events around next week. That link will take you to a site that has them for the rest of the year if you want to go even further.

Hashtag Holidays:

  • December 21: Crossword Puzzle Day #CrosswordPuzzleDay
  • December 21: First Day of Winter #WinterSolstice
  • December 23: #Festivus

I don't think I mention this often, but posting is just one part of social media and growth. On Instagram especially, you need to schedule intentional time to engage with your audience. This looks like setting a time for 15 minutes and going through stories and responding to each one. Then set the timer for 10 minutes, going to your Followers list, and going down the list liking a few photos and commenting on 1-2 on each account. This is an absolute must on Instagram these days.

I hope this is helpful! Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday! Thanks for being on my list!

Thanks,

Jen McKee

P.S. If you're struggling with consistency online, you don't have to. I have 1 spot open in my Social Media Advisory Program and I'm saving it for you. Reply and let's get started.

P.S.S. I'M HIRING! I'm looking for a Content Creator Assistant. You would be perfect if:

-You're looking for a few hours a week (less than 10 to start)

-You're creative with an eye for detail.

-You like to write and/or create graphics on simple platforms
