Social Media looks a little bit different this week. (I also added a family picture :))

It's finally here ,
I can't believe this week is here. I know the holidays can feel like another box to check off, but I have to say, my kids are so stinking excited! And how could they not be? The big guy is coming and they are about to hit the jackpot! I've been busy picking up Amazon packages off my front step (and my husband has been busy delivering them...he works for FedEx), but social media still goes on. Here's what I have for you this week.
Social Media News you can Use:
Tik Tok banned MLMs
This is pretty big news and could be the beginning of a new social media trend. They listed MLMs under a "Frauds and Scams" policy. The policy says “content that depicts or promotes Ponzi, multi-level marketing, or "pyramid schemes" and “content that depicts or promotes investment schemes with promise of high returns, fixed betting, or any other types of scams” will now be banned. There is a good possibility that other platforms will start to do the same. To read more about this topic, head here.
LinkedIn Product Page
LinkedIn added a new type of page, a Product Page. I currently don't have access to it, but your company might. Check your company LinkedIn page, not your personal one. LinkedIn describes this as a Bottom of the Funnel tool, once your lead is hot. Their examples are mostly services, so it's clear it will cater to products and services. I will keep you posted on the full roll out, but until then, here's more information. Getting Started...FAQ
Instagram Updates Again
You may have noticed this week, Instagram added a new feature to the stories. It's a photobooth filter and it takes a few pictures all within a few seconds without pressing the button multiple times. You can then change the layout. (Remember, you may not have this feature yet but it will be coming soon.). They also made an update to Reels, adding a voice-over feature and some additional editing options. You can read more about it here.

Here are 5 ideas for content for next week (December 28th- January 1st, 2021😮)
Monday:
This is a great week to talk about goal planning and setting intentions for the new year. I love a good quote on a Monday #mondaymotivation #mondayquote. Look for quotes about the new year or give some positive thoughts towards 2021 to your followers.
Tuesday:
Tick Tock Day #TickTockDay...this is a fun day. It's a day meant to wrap up any loose ends in the year coming to an end. You could create a post with last-minute "tick-tock" deals (end of year sales) or create a post about what you're wrapping up this week.
Wednesday:
This week is going to be a different type of week as far as engagement goes. You could still do a sales post here. After Christmas sales, or why your followers need your service going into the new year. Do you provide a beauty service? I have these slows still available before New Year's Eve. Do you provide a business service? Get on the roster before January is full.
Thursday:
New Year's Eve #NYE This could be a great opportunity for reflection. Reflection on your business, reflection on your personal life, reflection on the year in general. These types of posts are great for engagement. Grab a
picture of yourself in a "Happy New Year" hat and connect with your audience!
Friday:
New Year's Day #NewYearsDay What are your New Year's Day traditions? Do you eat a certain food? Watch a certain game? Again, people aren't necessarily thinking about business this week so it's ok to go more personal.
Here are the Hashtag Holidays for you to create content and events around next week. That link will take you to a site that has them for the rest of the year if you want to go even further.
- December 27: No Interruptions Day #NoInterruptionsDay
- December 29: Tick Tock Day #TickTockDay
- December 30: Bacon Day #BaconDay
- December 31: New Year's Eve #NYE
- January 1: New Year's Day #NewYearsDay
- January 2: Science Fiction Day #ScienceFictionDay

I want to reiterate this again. Posting is just one part of social media and growth. On Instagram especially, you need to schedule intentional time to engage with your audience. This looks like setting a time for 15 minutes and going through stories and responding to each one. Then set the timer for 10 minutes, going to your Followers list, and going down the list liking a few photos and commenting on 1-2 on each account. This is an absolute must on Instagram these days.
I hope this is helpful! Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday! Thanks for being on my list!
Thanks,
Jen McKee & my family
