Cruise prices increasing?

On July 1, 2024 a new pricing structure will be taking place across most cruiselines. Some cruise lines already include all fees up front. Here are the details.

California Assembly Bill 537 becomes effective July 1 and this bill requires cruise lines, hotels, and tour operators to display complete cost of your vacation. Think of this as a truth in advertising bill, with no hidden fees. Currently, a company can advertise a cruise for $299, and only upon booking are there booking fees, port fees and miscellaneous fees. Once those are added, the $299 cruise is now $499. I will be very interested to see how this comes into being. I know there are many online companies that advertise cheap prices as a way to get you to call or click. As for me, I will always give you complete pricing with a quote. I will also give you the refundable fare as well. So if you start seeing advertised cruise fares that look higher after July 1, 2024 you will know there is nothing hidden.

Last newsletter I mentioned my favorite piano player on Princess Cruises. AJ Clarke will be plalying nightly in Crooner's Bar from September 27th, 2024 and December 17th, 2024 on the Emerald Princess. There are itineraries for Canada - New England and also Panama Canal. River Cruises are a great alternative to ocean cruising. A few things stand out. Small and intimate capacity, gourmet type of meals, no casino, included excursions and best of all, you walk off your river boat and never caught in a crowd to embark or disembark. Many land tour operators as well as cruise lines have sales through Memorial Day. It can be dollars off, onboard credits or reduced fares for a limited time.
